Adaptive vs. Static Weighting in Byzantine-Resilient Personalized Federated Learning for Anomaly Detection
Abstract
Abstract: This report synthesises findings from 14 peer-reviewed papers addressing the following research question: What is the comparative effectiveness of adaptive aggregation strategies versus static weighting in mitigating Byzantine failures within personalized federated learning frameworks for network anomaly. Given the distributed nature, detecting and defending against the backdoor attack under federated learning (FL) systems is challenging. In this paper, we observe that the cosine similarity of the last layer's weight between the global model and each local update could be used. 12 claims were extracted from source literature; 0 were independently verified against retrieved documents. An automated multi-reviewer quality assessment produced a score of 3.2/10. This report is a machine-generated literature synthesis and does not constitute original research.
