Abstract: This report synthesises findings from 13 peer-reviewed papers addressing the following research question: What is the impact of varying the unit test complexity (e.g., simple vs. multi-step assertions) on the trade-off between inference efficiency and solution accuracy in dynamic reward scaling. Current large language models (LLMs) often struggle to produce accurate responses on the first attempt for complex reasoning tasks like code generation. Prior research tackles this challenge by generating multiple candidate solutions and validating them with LLM-generated unit. 9 claims were extracted from source literature; 4 were independently verified against retrieved documents.
