Abstract

Abstract: Deep generative models have made rapid progress in image, text, audio, and video generation, and are increasingly being applied to structured records. For tabular data, however, generative modeling remains difficult: a dataset may contain numerical and categorical attributes, missing values, sensitive fields, imbalanced categories, complex feature dependencies, and domain constraints. Earlier tabular data modeling methods based on GANs or VAEs have achieved useful results, but they can suffer from unstable training, mode collapse, weak modeling of multimodal distributions, and fragile handling

Research Question

How does the FID score of tabular diffusion models compare to Wasserstein GANs and VAEs when generating synthetic data for imbalanced classification tasks conditioned on class-specific statistics?

This record has not completed Gate 2 of the verification pipeline (a type-checked Lean4 proof for mathematical claims, or a sealed-sandbox reproduction for empirical claims). It is a literature synthesis only. VERIFIED requires an attached reproducible artifact (Lean4 proof source, or repro script and results) before this status can be set; it is not derived from review score or claim count.
